 Child Advocates has been providing essential services to this vulnerable population since 1986.
The organization trains and supports Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers to work one-on-one with children, helping to ensure that each child will live in a safe and loving environment and has the resources needed to grow up healthy and strong.
 The Research department at Genentech houses approximately 1,100 researchers and scientists and 125 postdocs and covers a wide range of groundbreaking scientific activity — from molecular biology and protein chemistry to bioinformatics and small molecule drug discovery.  Julia's activities ranged from projects as big as co-founding a school support program for an immigrant resettlement center (with the campus ministry club) to projects as small as helping to paint a bench for a scholarship fundraiser. On the campus, Julia and the Campus Ministry Coordinator together started a "Service Fair" that through her high school years brought representatives from a variety of excellent non-profit organizations to the campus for a morning of informal chatting with students. She loved the opportunity to "take my passion and go with it."
